Ingredients

For the Base:
- 4 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala work best)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water
For the Toppings:
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup melted chocolate or chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons crushed graham crackers
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
- 1 tablespoon sprinkles (optional)
Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the apples: Core the apples and slice them into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick. You can use an apple corer and slicer for speed, or a sharp knife works perfectly.

Step 2: Prevent browning: In a small bowl, mix the lemon juice with water. Lightly brush or dip each apple slice in the mixture to prevent browning. Pat dry with paper towels.

Step 3: Arrange the base: On a large serving platter or individual plates, arrange the apple slices in overlapping layers, similar to how you’d arrange tortilla chips for nachos.

Step 4: Add the sauces: Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the apple slices. Follow with melted chocolate and peanut butter, creating a beautiful crosshatch pattern.

Step 5: Top it off: Sprinkle the mini chocolate chips, crushed graham crackers, chopped nuts, and coconut over the apples. Add sprinkles if desired for extra color and fun.

Step 6: Serve immediately: Apple nachos are best enjoyed right away while the apples are crisp and the toppings are fresh.
Notes
- Best apples to use: Granny Smith for tartness, Honeycrisp for sweetness and crunch, or Gala for mild flavor
- For even slices, use an apple corer/slicer or mandoline slicer set to 1/4 inch
- Prevent browning by working quickly and keeping sliced apples in lemon water until ready to assemble
- Melt peanut butter in microwave for 20-30 seconds for easier drizzling
- For parties, set up a DIY topping bar so guests can customize their own
- Healthier swaps: use sugar-free caramel, dark chocolate, and natural nut butters
- Nut-free option: substitute sunflower seed butter for peanut butter
- Vegan option: use dairy-free chocolate and maple syrup instead of caramel
