Ingredients

- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons low-fat milk
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions

Step 1 – Mix the dry ingredients
Add flour, brown sugar, and baking powder into a microwave-safe mug (8 oz size works best). Stir to combine.

Step 2 – Add the wet ingredients
Pour in the milk, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil. Whisk with a fork until the batter is smooth and lump-free.

Step 3 – Fold in the chocolate chips
Mix half of the chocolate chips into the batter. Sprinkle the rest on top for that gooey, bakery-style finish.

Step 4 – Microwave
Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 60 seconds. If your microwave runs hot, check at 50 seconds. The cake should rise just to the rim of the mug.

Step 5 – Cool and enjoy
Let the mug cool for 2–3 minutes (the chocolate chips will be very hot). Grab a spoon and dig in!
Notes
Mug Size: Use an 8 oz mug for best results. The cake will rise to the top. A larger mug works but cake will be shorter.
Microwave Power: Cooking time based on 1000-watt microwave. Adjust time for different wattages (900W: add 10 seconds, 1200W: reduce by 10 seconds).
Don’t Overmix: Stir just until combined to keep cake tender and fluffy.
Chocolate Distribution: Mixing some chips into batter ensures chocolate throughout, while topping adds visual appeal.
Serving Suggestion: Delicious on its own or topped with whipped cream, ice cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Make It Richer: Substitute butter for oil and whole milk for low-fat milk for more indulgent version.
