Ingredients

- 12 ounces quality chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (60% cacao bittersweet recommended)
- ¾ cup raw nuts or seeds (almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, pistachios, or pepitas)
- ¼ cup dried cranberries or mixed dried fruit (cherries, chopped apricots, or candied ginger)
- ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional but recommended)
Instructions

Step 1: Toast the nuts in a 350°F oven for 6-9 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, then roughly chop them on a cutting board.

Step 2: Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl using 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until 90% melted.

Step 3: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the melted chocolate evenly to about ¼-inch thickness using a rubber spatula.

Step 4: Sprinkle the toasted nuts evenly across the chocolate surface, followed by the dried fruit pieces.

Step 5: Crush the flaky sea salt between your fingers while sprinkling it over the chocolate, then gently press all toppings down with your palms.

Step 6: Refrigerate the pan on a flat surface for 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens completely.

Step 7: Break the hardened chocolate bark into approximately 25 irregular pieces using your hands.
Notes
- Chocolate Selection: Use high-quality chocolate with 50-70% cacao for best results. Chocolate chips work well but chopped bar chocolate melts more smoothly.
- Toasting Nuts: Don’t skip toasting the nuts – it intensifies their flavor and creates better crunch. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Temperature Matters: Avoid overheating chocolate as it can seize. Stop microwaving when 90% melted and stir to finish.
- Storage: Keep at room temperature for 1 week, refrigerate for 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months between parchment layers.
- Variations: Try white or milk chocolate, add crushed pretzels, coconut flakes, or candy canes for holidays.
- Gift Giving: Package in cellophane bags tied with ribbon for beautiful homemade gifts.
